THE QUEEN RISES (LITERALLY!)
I’ve seen this time and time again:
The minute you ask anyone, young or old,
to pretend to be a king or queen, the first thing they do is lift their chest.
I have some interesting insights on this, but first, let’s see what google
had to say when I asked why a lifted chest is associated with royalty.
Symbolism of Power and Confidence:
A lifted chest is a natural physical manifestation of confidence and high self-esteem. It serves as a nonverbal cue that suggests a person is in command, secure in their position, and unafraid.
Signaling Dignity and Poise:
Royalty is traditionally associated with “poise and unwavering dignity“. A lifted chest, often accompanied by a straight back, is a physical embodiment of this grace,
projecting an image of stability and command.
When you emulate a queen, you signal to yourself
(or, more precisely, your SELF signals to YOU)
that you are a poised, dignified, confident being with high self-esteem who is in command!
THINGS ARE LOOKING UP!
In class, we talked about how posture has been proven to greatly affect our mood.
Here’s another really interesting example:
Research shows that merely lifting our gaze, above the horizon line, makes us feel better. When we pretend we are royal, it’s not only our chest that lifts, it’s our gaze as well.
So the stance of a monarch ameliorates our overall sense of well-being in several ways.
Very interesting.
Now, here’s another take on this:
A monarch is deemed to be special.
Much more special than the sea of ‘commoners’ who make up the general population.
And as long as monarchs have existed, we’ve been sent a strong subconscious message:
This elegant, wellness-boosting, life-affirming posture is only for a select few.
It is not for us.
Isn’t it interesting that something ALL of our bodies are designed to do,
is surreptitiously withheld from the masses.
Powerful, happy people are much harder to manipulate.
Let’s reclaim this simple postural birthright and activate our SELFLY MONARCH.
Imagine her mangificent magnetism beaming out across the land.
Feel her chest expand
Feel it rise and float.
Feel her deep, relaxed breathing fill you like a bubble.
Make some beauty full, billowing gesture.
Lift your gaze.
Smile.

YOUR QUEENLY HABIT STACK
Today, you will choose a daily habit to begin your ‘queening’.
It must be something you do every day because, as we learnt in class, when we stack a new habit onto an old one, we benefit from the strong neural connections the old one already has.
Fill in this sentence:
“Every day, after I ___________________(old habit),
I will assume my new habit of activating my inner queen for 1 full minute.”
If you really want to up the ante, choose a habit you do more than once a day.
Just make sure you remember to do it. After the first few days, it will become ingrained,
but in the beginning, please put a note in the spot where your habit takes place.
For some bonus fun, set a timer for a few times a day and simply lift your gaze.
Notice how much harder it is to feel upset when you gaze upward.
