THE POWER OF CONNECTION

We all have some level of trauma from childhood.
For some, trauma feels like too strong a word for what they went through,
but trauma just means a wound, and it doesn’t have to be huge to leave a scar.
When things happen that hurt us as children,
we don’t yet have the mental skills to express them and work them out,
so they leave scars that we may not even know about.

Sometimes, we can see the difference between a bad thing that hurts us
and believing that we are bad ourselves. Sometimes not.

In this week’s colouring exercise,
I asked you to imagine that you were colouring with your younger self.
Have you been able to make contact?
Has it been enjoyable, uncomfortable or not much of anything?

If it’s a happy experience, great.
Enjoy connecting.
If you don’t feel her, don’t worry.
Just by doing some thing you did as a child (like colouring)
rest assured that, on some level, you are connecting.
If you’re encountering a sad child,
then just let her know that you love her, you’re there for her
and that she’s welcome to come and colour with you,
or just sit with you, if she’d like to. smile

No matter what kind of energy your younger self is bringing,
I can tell you one thing I know, for sure, after all these years doing what I do:
She is so happy to be re-connecting with you.
