The Big Better was founded Karen Zila Hayes whose own decades-long struggle with wellness inspired her to become an expert in the field of sensory wellness.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Karen Zila Hayes is a teacher, healer and Innovator in the field of sensory alignment. She is the creator of The BETTER LIVING CODE, a cutting-edge system that promotes better living by addressing 4 facets of wellness:
Sensory, Creative, Natural & Postural (breath/body work).
In addition to being a certified colour therapist and NLP mindset trainer, Karen is one of North America’s leading authorities in the field of Knitting Therapy. She’s been developing creativity-based sensory learning techniques for over 15 years and her work in sensory wellness has been cited in the international press, with references including The New York Times, The Toronto Globe and Mail, and Jornal Pampulha (Brazil).
She is also a multi-media artist whose work includes singing, composing, photography and videography. Her creative endeavors and fascination with the effects of colour and sound on an audience inspired her interest in sensory learning and the effect the senses have on our general well-being.
Karen’s interest in wellness started young when a mystery illness left her with long-term damage.

“As a child, a mystery illness left me with damaged lungs, underdeveloped muscles and suboptimal health with a list of limitations and no rehabilitation options.
Eventually, I began exploring and developing strategies of my own. I discovered that if I understood my machine in a different way, I could create a new set of commands that prompted it to perform better.
I corrected the physical and mental misalignments I had lived with for years, and left exhaustion, depression and poor health behind. Today, I love helping others do the same. The beauty of this work is that, wherever you’re at, our simple methods will make you feel BETTER!”
